Chinese investors eye Tenerife
A sizeable group of pominent Chinese businessmen has been given an opportunity to examine investment opportunities in Tenerife by the island authorities, who are hopeful that the visit will produce ‘substantial outcomes’.
The businessmen, members of the Aigo Entrepreneurs Alliance, have been given tours of a number of areas under the “Why Tenerife?” initiative, which was set up to outline to foreign investors the multiple advantages, including tax incentives, of setting up here. Cabildo chief Carlos Alonso joined senior officials from the Port Authority and Chamber of Commerce in showing the Chinese delegation around and said afterwards that they had expressed interest in the tourism development plans for the Adeje area, the Buenavista Golf Course and the island’s three public-owned casinos, which are about to be sold off. The delegation also expressed interest in the port in Santa Cruz as an access route to West Africa, where China is acquiring a massive presence
